Can I Homeschool?
What is the best homeschooling advice you ever got? As a mom of three, I have often asked myself “Can I homeschool?”. I have often come back with the response “Not anymore” or “I am in over my head”. Do you sound like that? I know I have many times.
Best advice I ever got
One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received was from another homeschooling mom was she told me not to focus on the whole picture of homeschooling from kindergarten through high school. She said to focus on one year at a time! Keep a journal. Write down a list of your homeschooling goals.
- Short term goals
- Long-term goals
- Goals for each child
- Why are you homeschooling?
- Positive words of encouragement (You CAN do it, Great Job)
- Write down some scriptures that inspire you (Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you)
Strategies
Keep this journal in your school room. When you feel overwhelmed take this journal out. Take a 5-minute break and reread why you are homeschooling. Take a couple of deep breaths. Pray if you need to. Every time you start to question, “Can I do it?”, remind yourself to focus on one year at a time.
