Have you ever had a homeschooling day where you think “I can’t do this?” Are you always telling your kids to sit still? Do you wonder if you can homeschool your special needs child? If you are new to homeschooling, are you overwhelmed by the thoughts of “Can I do this?” and “How do I start?” Do you struggle financially and wonder “Can our family financially afford to homeschool?”
I have had all these thoughts and more! Hi, my name is Laurie Shaw. I am a Christian wife, mother of 3, caregiver, Veterans wife, Financial Peace University coach (Dave Ramsey), and homeschool mom. I started my homeschooling journey 6 years ago when my oldest was 4 years old. You might wonder, why did you start so early? My oldest son has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I started teaching early on because I realized how much help he needed in simple things like handwriting and letter recognition. Over the last 6 years, we have had many struggles! Each of my children has their own struggles, and I have almost thrown in the towel many times. However, we have learned many strategies that have helped us be successful in our school day and in our lives.
I want to be a light in your lives! I want to help you find what curriculum will fit your family the best. I want to encourage you that you can do it! If you have a special needs child or an extra wiggly one, there are many strategies to help you be as successful as you can be. My journey is not over, but I would like to embark on this journey with you. I am still learning new strategies, and I would like to share them with you.
