Love Begins At Home
“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do…but how much love we put in that action.”
-Mother Teresa
Homeschooling
Do you love to homeschool? Did you feel called to homeschool your children? Before I had kids, I thought homeschooling was a foreign concept. Looking back at our time in Columbia, SC I see how God worked in my life and called me to home school.
God put certain families in our lives to teach us and show us what a wonderful gift homeschooling can be. I read this quote by Gandhi and realize my role as a parent and teacher.
“There is no school equal to a decent home and no teacher equal to a virtuous parent”
-Mahatma Gandhi
Education of our children
We as parents are here to educate our children. It is our primary role. I watch TV and I see so many children crying out for guidance and love from their parent(s). Our nation has lost its view of how important parents are.
As homeschoolers, it is our job to not only educate our children but also teach them honor and love. We want to raise our children to change the world. Whether it is through compassion for others or strength to do what is right, it is our job to show that a small act can change someone’s day or even life.
Influence Your Child
I love this quote by Mother Teresa, “Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” As homeschool community, we need to lift each other up. We need to be each other’s rock. As teachers, we need to show our kids how to start their day with a smile.
We are influencing our children the most. Stay positive. If you start your homeschooling day in a bad mood (like sometimes we all do) hug your children and smile at them. The look on their face will change your day!
In conclusion
As parents, friends, neighbors, and a community we need to support our children and love them. Strive to be a support for someone else. Strive to be a good model for your kids. If we don’t, who will?
