Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park is by far one of the best treasures here in Montana. Nestled in the Northwest part of the state, this national park is a beautiful, calming, sereine place to visit. With trees galore, the beauty of the park is unparallel. There are hiking trails, Lake McDonald, boat rides, bus tours, and treasures to be found throughout the entire park.
Our family visited Glacier National Park recently and were taken back by the beauty of the park. We had visited it once 4 years ago and loved it. We have been very eager to travel back and explore more of the park.
Where to stay near the park
There are several campgrounds in Glacier National Park or within 10 miles of the park. Most of the campgrounds in Glacier will be primitive campsites (one without the modern amenities of water, sewer, and electricity). I caution you Glacier has bears! Be safe and mindful of the bears or you may end up a bear taco! Bring your bear spray.
There are a couple campgrounds that are first come first serve and a couple where you can make reservations. Double check because these campgrounds fill up fast!

Where to stay if you have an RV or need a cabin
Now if you are like us and have a big rig or simply need a cabin, there are plenty of options. I recommend booking early. These RV parks can fill up quickly. Most RV campgrounds offer modern amenities like water, sewer, and electricity. They usually also have a local bathhouse with showers and flushable toilets. The campground hosts are also very helpful. They will have local information and can help you discover places the locals’ favor.

Our Family Trip
While on our camping trip, we stayed at the Outback Montana RV Park & Cabins. While it was a nice, quiet, and clean campground, the campsites were not suited for a 32-long trailer. We stayed at this campsite because we had a family reunion and they were able to accommodate all our family needs. We had a family staying in a cabin, one family renting an onsite RV, and our family staying at a pull through site.
The owners of the campground were very helpful and pointed us in various directions of fun local places to discover. This campground is in Bigfork (about 40 mins to Glacier National Park). I liked this campground because we were located close to Flathead Lake.
Flathead Lake
Flathead Lake is another local gem. Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. It is over 200 square miles of water and 185 miles of shoreline. It houses many kinds of fish, boating and swimming access, and some of the most beautiful rocks you can find. Across from the lake, you will find an abundance of Cherry trees. This lake is known for its delicious cherries. If you are visiting in July or August, make sure to grab some of these cherries.

Flathead Lake offers a wide range of restaurants, local distilleries, and shopping. Need to get out some energy before grabbing a bite? No problem. The surrounding area of Flathead Lake also has several State Parks, hiking trails, and fishing access. You will not be bored by this lake. Take it the view of this beautiful lake. They are breathtaking!

In conclusion
Glacier National Park is a beautiful national park nestled in the northwestern part of Montana. These breathtaking views will bring calmness to you. Glacier National Park is full of hiking trails, boat rides, and vintage bus tours. Be mindful, this is bear country. Bring your bear spray! The best part of visiting this national park is despite the 3.3 million people who visit each year you will feel at peace here. You will not be bombarded with people everywhere. In fact, both times I have been it feels like hardly anyone is in the park.
Listen to nature, find waterfalls, and enjoy being outside in God’s glory. Glacier National Park is the place to be. The place to come together as a family. The place to be at peace.
